Bone and Bell - Loom

Well, it took a bit longer than expected, but I finally finished my baritone ukulele EP, Loom. It’s a collection of some of my earliest songs… The majority of them are 7 years old at this point. Needless to say, it’s been a long time coming. One million thank yous to my lovely boyfriend for recording and mixing it for me.

You can download it for FREE for a limited time, so get it while the gettin’s good.

New Painting

September 12th, 2010

I made a painting at Crafternoon yesterday. Not the best thing I’ve ever done, but not the worst. It feels good to work so quickly. This took about an hour, I think.

YEA art!

Patchwork Tweet

September 8th, 2010

I recently had the pleasure of working on a project called Patchwork Tweet.

  1. 1. The system begins by taking at look at the top 20 twitter trending terms.
  2. 2. It then analyzes the text of each tweet and selects a google image using the terms within that tweet.
  3. 3. It then generates a three panel comic on the fly, using the google image it selected and the text of the tweet.

You also have the ability to convert your personal, preexisting tweets into a 3 panel comic.

The patchwork of twitter trending terms:

A single tweet:

You can view it here:

We also made an installation version that automatically selects a “patch” to explore at random. I built an enclosure that houses 4 LCD panels all randomly selecting one “patch” at a time.

4 panel installation:

You can view that version here:

Box2D + Glen Beck = Awesomeness

July 22nd, 2010

This is a silly little test swf that I created while working on a project for the Intelligent Information Laboratory. It’s not perfect… but it sure is fun.

Go on… Get out some aggression. It might be the healthiest thing you’ve done all day.

1,000 uploads to YouTube, the aftermath

June 3rd, 2010

So, a friend of mine, Patrick, has been performing a art/video project on Youtube for the last year. The project can be viewed here.

The project:
1. Upload a video to YouTube.
2. Download said video from YouTube.
3. Reupload the video you just downloaded.
4. Repeat 999 times.

Turns out the natural deterioration of the re-compression is a lovely thing to watch.
By the 1000th time there is very little left of the original image and sound track. What remains, is a pixelated wash that vaguely suggests movement. Art + Technology once again comes unique and super cool.

This was covered  over at Mashable. READ THE FULL ARTICLE.

PRF Songwriting Challenge – Week 71 – I Win!

February 2nd, 2010

So, it’s 11pm last Sunday. I’m watching a Dr. Who episode I’ve seen before and it suddenly strikes me that the PRF songwriting challenge is due in one hour.

So, I whipped out the ‘ol baritone uke and wrote a simple, little ditty in about 20 minutes, recorded in 2 takes , with 1 mic and ended up tying for first place. Woo hoo! I’m kind of a winner!

The challenge was the write a song that somehow has to do with vegetables. Here is a link to the whole week’s entries:

Mine is titled: Iamnotavegetable
